The owl is the symbol of the Greek goddess Athena, associated with intelligence, wisdom and cunning. Lladró artists have chosen the owl for the latest addition to the Boldblack collection. The animals in this series are made in black porcelain with just a few touches of golden luster in the decoration. This creation produces a very powerful effect. On one hand for the decoration and, on the other, because the matte porcelain enhances the sculpture and the etching. This owl stands out for the faithful rendering, the face and the meticulous work in the recreation of its feathering and the wooden trunk. This frisky, good-natured little puppie is from one of the most prized breeds by dog lovers. Puppie Pug is made in glazed porcelain and faithfully reproduces the animal’s characteristic features, with its short snout and the peculiar expression of its eyes. A light camel tone was chosen for the decoration of the puppy’s body, combined with brown and black to recreate the typical colors of its face, thus further enhancing its cute expression. The touch of color and the contrast comes in the form of the yellow candy, also made in glazed porcelain.

With its long, silky hair and big expressive eyes, the Persian cat is the aristocracy of domesticated felines. Thanks to the sculptural work and etching, faithfully recreating the cat’s coat, this creation conveys the elegance of these cats to perfection. The piece is made in glazed white porcelain decorated with soft tones of dissolved color. This decorative technique, when applied on surfaces with so much relief, enhances the play of light and shadow and increases the sense of volume, in this case of the cat’s hair.
