The people of Mexico have a special relationship with death, to the point that it is part of the culture and daily life of this North American country. The Bella Catrina, conceived in the imagination of the artist Jose Guadalupe Posada, has become part of this rich, popular iconography. This limited edition is richly decorated with colourful motifs characteristic of Mexican tradition and three spectacular flowers carefully modelled, petal by petal. In addition, there is a brass earring with two micron 18K gold plating and decorated with porcelain. The antique golden base is inseparably attached to the piece.

This High Porcelain creation takes its name and inspiration from Le Marché aux fleurs, a beautiful flower market in Paris by the banks of the Seine, which opened in 1830.

Boasting a wealth of sculptural, floral and decorative details, this composition recreates a typical period scene and transports us to the idyllic romanticism of the 19th century. The rich fabrics, lace and colors of the ladies’ gowns are reproduced masterfully thanks to the painstaking work of the sculptor and the ornamentation team. Equally noteworthy is the floral decoration with around 800 flowers and leaves, of different kinds and shades, all handmade petal by petal. A work of romantic porcelain, which speaks of the ability of many Lladró creations to make us to travel in time. The key to the realism and beauty of this work is its mise-en-scene, in which the delicate figures of the protagonists and precise decoration of their surroundings take on significance. This High Porcelain limited edition captures the refinement of an entire era, in a bucolic scene reflecting the leisurely cadence of a unique moment. Special mention should be given to the roughly 300 flowers, some of which form a complex bower and which posed a technical challenge to Lladró experts, particularly in firing. The fans and dresses of the three ladies are enhanced with embroidery and hand-painted prints and lace. More than 70 colours have been used for decoration of a piece full of the minute details which turn the entire piece into a masterpiece.

This couple, accompanied by a beautiful dalmatian which is looking at them attentively, transports us to the idyllic romanticism of the nineteenth century. The lady is wearing a dress with the puff sleeves in fashion at the time and elaborate embroidery etched by hand, while the gentlemen is wearing the typical cravat and hat of the period. The scene is completed by a series of details decorated in delicate tones.
