Lladro 01009754 Athena

Weight 29.54 lb
Finished Matte and metallic luster
Height (in): 28.346
Width (in): 17.323
Length (in): 14.961
Sculptor José Santaeulalia

Porcelain sculpture inspired by Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, tactics, and good counsel.

The daughter of Zeus and Metis, Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom, tactics and good counsel. Believed to be the protectress of the city of Athens, she is also the goddess of war, understood as the fight to achieve justice. Greek mythology, with its legends, gods and heroes, continues to captivate us today. The wealth of its stories and its powerful symbolism are an endless source of inspiration for our artists. Athena comes to life in our workshops thanks to this interpretation in white matte porcelain, decorated with ocher and golden lusters and with metallic whites in an iridescent finish. Accompanying the goddess is her faithful owl, the symbol of wisdom. This bird is portrayed in porcelain in great detail, posing on Athena’s shoulder and also etched in bas relief on the helmet, bracelet and leg guards. In addition, etched on the protective shield is the head of Medusa, the gorgon who turned anyone who looked upon it into stone. Gods depicted through other gods, characters that converge and lives that intersect in order to share with us the culture of Ancient Greece and its fascinating history.

Width (in) 17.717
Length (in) 7.48
Porcelain Type Matte and metallic lustre
Sculptor Ernest Massuet

Porcelain sculpture depicting Diana, the mythical Roman goddess of hunting and the protector of nature and the moon.

This depiction of the goddess Diana is made in porcelain. In this imposing creation she is shooting with bow and arrow, as she appears in countless classical artworks. It is made in in satin matte porcelain. Worth underscoring in this composition are the many meticulously etched details of her clothing, like the floral motifs on her gown, bracelets and headdress which are all decorated in a wealth of earthy tones, set off by touches of golden luster. The moon that Diana wears around her neck is the symbol of the goddess and is the main motif of Moon jewelry. A bracelet and a pendant made in white porcelain decorated with golden luster and a soft leather cord.
