The focus of attention in this bust is the floral headdress, a virtuoso exercise by the artists in the High Porcelain workshop.

In the 19th century, wealthy young people would spend their honeymoons travelling through Old Europe. Italy was a destination full of classic art and romance. Locating him firmly in Venice, Italy, the gondolier appears in the traditional striped shirt and straw hat.
